Sounds of The City
Before we get started, I just want to make a quick point about this blog, its personal and its MY OWN experience with the sport.
SO, who I am and what does football mean to me well it means a lot, Football was in my blood and embedded in my name but my story starts before 2nd of January 2008,it starts just a year before, in the years of 2007,where the premier league had already gained attraction and sadly Arsenal were slipping from what they once were, they were still a top team according to many of their loyal fans well apart from my dad.
My dad had enough and so he turned to the blue side of London, a team destined for greatness. Please welcome Chelsea FC AKA the team I was named after, the minute I was welcomed into the world. And yes, I’ve got proof too.

Yep, that’s me with Chelsea Teddy bear, the symbol and the sign that told a clear picture and story that lead me here today, seventeen years later, I play the sport and i’m blessed with incredible parents who support me though this tough journey.
So how did I start well it started with me watching the Beautiful game, it was something small but it Grew over time, it was my way of learning the sports, from learning of many players and playing the FIFA games (Mostly FIFA 13 something that sticks with me) I just knew I needed to go out there and play it for real and so I did.
In Primary School , Year 1 where I was the only Girl who played it, it was boys who didn’t seem to mind that I played with because I learnt many things just playing with them, How rough the sport was and yet I took it, I didn’t cry when I was kicked down, I got straight back up and from that moment, I knew what I wanted and that was to Show the World that Girls can play the game, rough and tough, this game wasn’t just for the boys.
In year 6,After looking for Girls team, I landed my first team though a Newsletter that were advising Coundon court girls fc and that was My first club and I went on to make a name for myself but things were different, the girls had technique and learnt the basic which I had but they had more but football is about learning and creating your ways to play and that I did.
I started out as a defender before there was a position swap, I decided to put the gloves on and I’ve loved them ever since, it wasn’t just football that was my passion it was also goalkeeping and thanks to the position change, I went on to win my first trophy which was the Covid cup but the many others trophies. I even went to Barcelona to play in a football tournament which I won also not to brag…

So, in some type of way, Goalkeeping has opened many doors for me and challenges, it’s made me Understand those who are ready to put their body through the work will succeed. No matter when things get bad or hard, my family is always there to pull me out of the dark place and likewise are the teammates who I’ve made friends with over the years.
Its about the lessons you learn when watching but also playing the beautiful game, there is a lot that people don’t know about behind the scenes, I know I didn’t write a blog
based on information but I wanted to write this blog because its my introduction into Studio 74 and maybe one day, one day………I’ll be balling out for Lionesses.
Thank you for reading,
Chelsea S.
