Written By Flynn Bond
Hi I’m Flynn Bond a leader in two scout groups in Coventry I’ve been in scouting almost two years now and it has changed my life in an amazing way. So, I want to talk to you about it on this blog and share my view on this.
This is my first entry introducing you to the scouting association. This blog will explore the different sections of scouting Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers/Young leaders. I will also share information on badges with how they’re earned and what they contribute to.
Our youngest section is Squirrels. They are ages 4 – 6 and only select groups have this section as it is quite new to the association at only 5 years running. Beavers are ages 6-8 years old, and they have been running for 40 years as of this new year. Cubs are ages 8 – 10 ½ they have now been running for an amazing 110 years. And the section that started scouts are the scouts themselves who have run now for 116 years other associations ran before this, but the main Scouts association was founded in 1910 this section is for years 10 ½ – 14 years old. Explorers are also newer at about 25 years old they are for after scouts where scouts have a choice of young leaders or explorers. If they pick explorers, they must find a group with it or find a lone explorer section. Now young leaders go through training and help leaders in the evenings when the sections run their night. Different groups have different times and nights when the sections are running.
#skills for life.
All Leaders are Volunteers we do this to make a difference with our own free will we work hard all year round to make sure we make a difference in young people’s lives and teach them valuable skills but we also want to have fun and make sure the young people we care for learn and grow while also having a good time and making friends and definitely making some more
My next entry will be.
Let’s talk about different types of groups. We have sea scouts and land scouts i am currently a main scout leader, meaning I run the scouts’ section for both a sea scout and land scout group.
My other entries lined up are:
Then we’ll be on to our new series of entries.
