 Peter Dunbar

 Company Director

“Hello, my name’s Peter Dunbar. I live alone in the eastern suburbs of Newcastle (born & raised). I am the sole carer for my bedridden mother atm but hope to do a bit of global exploration, when my circumstances permit – experience some cultural delights!

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, hiking around Northumberland (or just my more local green spaces), a friendly game of poker with mates, relaxing to music and a good book. I am late diagnosed autistic (Asperger’s) and often find social encounters very challenging… something I’m very keen to address, and overcome.

I don’t have any specific aspirations… I just want to seize any opportunity to make a positive and profound difference, in any way I can. And to grow, in any way I can. The above photograph is of me enjoying one of my favourite activities, sitting in front of trees (I’m easily pleased)”.

Peter Rowe

Mental Health & LGBTQIA + Lead

Mentor & Director of Programmes

“My name is Peter, a first- generation British born to Jamaican parents, in Birmingham.

My childhood was troubled, being brought up by my paternal grandparents then by my Dad and his second wife until I left home at nearly 16. I went back to live with my Nan, before finally setting up home independently, in a bedsit and then in a flat at the age of 18.

In my early 20s I had to live with the fact of being gay and having to deal with it by myself. At the time people were not sharing such aspects of their lives with many people.

Over the years I have had various jobs in the care sector. Life skills and experience in the care sector enabled me to embark on a Social Sciences course which led to a degree in Social Work. I worked as a social worker for people with HIV and asylum seekers. I went on to be a sexual health worker for a charity based in Birmingham. I would test clients on site and at pop up clinics.

I strongly believe all my past experiences and life skills have enabled me to be an active member of the team, Studio 74, and I look forward to continuing this in the next academic year”.

Shannon Jackson

Company Director

“Hiya my names Shannon I am one of the directors of Studio 74. I suffer with PTSD and agoraphobia daily but being involved with studio 74 is helping with my mental health immensely.  One of the stand out benefits is that it enables me to be able to reach out to our up and coming children in the community.

My aim is to help where i can  and to see every one of them thrive especially having been a child in the care system from a very young age”
